How to Join DAR

Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who served the cause of American independence between 1775 and 1783. It opens the doors of opportunity to join more than 185,000 active women in 3,000 chapters world-wide, who share a common bond in the ancestral history of the founding of the United States of America. Nowhere else can one find such a distinguished group of women with such a rich heritage and spirit.

This organization is a service organization which qualifies as a non-profit, under the U.S. law for charitable organizations. It is non-political in nature and non-discriminatory. Over 50 committees are actively engaged in projects related to American Heritage, American History, Americanism, American Indians, Conservation, Commemorative Events, DAR schools, Service for Veterans, DAR Project Patriot, National Defense, and many more. Members, or Daughters as we call them, are actively engaged in their communities performing a wide variety of services. No matter where your talents, strengths, and interests lie, there is a DAR committee tailored for you.

What a wonderful way to leave your mark in history! The National Society offers an inquiry form that is given to each state society to administer.

For membership questions, please see our chapter list to find a chapter near you. The National Society has verified the lineage of more than 930,000 Daughters since its founding in 1890. For a complete description of DAR membership requirements, visit our National Society website:
